Suuraht was one of the many Horta that hatched immediately proceeding the USS Enterprise's mediation between Mother Horta and the Federation miners on the planet Janus VI. She spent most of her early life assisting the human mining operation on the planet. Around 2325 she became the vice president of the Horta-Human Mining alliance and held the position for 30 years until she joined Starfleet in 2355.

There were already about a dozen Horta in Starfleet when Suuraht attended Starfeet Academy on Earth. Her primary specialty was geological studies; an area of expertise her people excelled at. She graduated from the Academy and accepted a posting on the USS Chamberlain as geological specialist.

Suuraht spent seven years (2360-2367) on the USS Chamberlain as the geological specialist. After her stint on the Chamberlain ended she transferred to the USS Charybdis and eventually became the Charybdis's Assistant Science Officer. When the Dominion War (2373-2375) started she was promoted to Chief Science Officer and received the rank of full Lieutenant. At the war's end she accepted a posting to planetary outpost 55 deep in the beta quadrant where she assisted with a major geological survey of the planet for twenty years (2395).

Once the survey of outpost 55 was completed Suuraht took a 10 year leave to Janus VI (2395-2405). She returned to active duty and accepted the post of geological specialist aboard the USS Huron (2405). After a short stint on the USS Huron she accepted the position of Assistant Science Officer aboard the USS Charon (2408).

Suuraht looks like a large boulder with green and violet algae growing on her. Covering the sides and also beneath her carapace are violet colored fibrous phalangi that assist her with movement. Normally Suuraht wears a mechanical back peice that extends the entire length of her body. Pinned to it is a blue, gray, and black cloth that holds her commbadge and rank insignia. On the front-top of her carapace is an emerald gem that lights up every time she speaks.

The mechanical back piece is bolted to Suuraht's carapace. It was created by Dr. Anthony Hodges of the Engineering Corps. The back piece contains 10 mechanical arms; 4 are used for gripping and managing consoles, 4 contain analysis tools, and 2 contain medical tools. The back piece also is also an analysis tool (similar to but more advanced than the average tricorder). It also contains the programming for Suuraht's specialized voice synthesis system.

Suuraht is docile and a pacifist like many of her kind. She is very jovial for a rock and enjoys playing games of chess and poker. She is known to have a rock solid poker face. Suuraht enjoys associating with her peers and her voice synthesis program lacks the monotone of a computer. She had it changed to sound like a young soft spoken female but the synthesis system allows for a variety of tones. Her favorite food is granite and her favorite bed is a slab of carrara marble she received as a gift.

Dedaneru was delivered via an emergency cesarean section when his parents were involved in a severe hover car accident that ended up claiming both of their lives. The tiny infant delivered several months premature beat the odds and survived. Worshippers of the Yonadan oracle believed that the mythical oracle had granted the child a ‘second life’ using the soul of a Creator.

High Priestess of the Fabrini, Lissara, adopted Dedaneru and promised her people that he would be raised to serve the will of the oracle. During the same time period Lissara had been under heavy attack from the more radical denominations of the oracle worshippers. Some speculated she adopted the child to ease criticism of her more liberal methods. Whatever the case, Lissara took custody of Dedaneru after his release from the hospital.

Hand maidens were mostly responsible for Dedaneru’s rearing. At the age of two when he began to walk Lissara had the toddler begin a serious regiment of education that emphasized several curriculums, none of which were centralized around the religion. As time passed it became apparent to his tutors that Dedaneru was an extremely gifted child. By the age of five he mastered several languages such as Klingon, Romulan, Vulcan, Bajoran, Cardassian, Ferengi, and several others. Observing the child’s talents from afar Lissara became weary that the radicals would use this as a reason to board the Yonada and activate the oracle. Fearing the more radical elements of her own religion Lissara had the boy placed under heavy guard.

In the following years Dedaneru continued his studies finding them an opportunity to explore a world and universe he was vehemently guarded from. When he turned 8 a group of radicals learned about the prodigy and kidnapped him. Implanting a neural interface in his cerebral cortex the radicals illegally boarded the Yonada and linked the child prodigy to the oracle to attempt to revive the revered machine. Before they could complete the process Fabrini security forces arrived and arrested them.

The unwanted interface with the oracle caused Dedaneru severe mental stress and the boy spent a year recuperating in Daran IV hospital. Regretting everything that happened to the child Lissara took on a more active role in his development when he returned from the hospital. She encouraged Dedaneru’s education in Biology and Medical using her influence to allow him to attend university at the age of 9.

Dedaneru became the youngest Fabrini to ever receive an advanced degree when he earned doctorates in biology and medicine at the age of 17. Being revered by his own people for his talents and for the belief that those talents were a result of him being the reincarnation of a Creator was difficult for the young man. With permission from the High Priestess Dedaneru joined Starfleet in 2408.
