	An apologetic Lamont swallowed his pride and in a rare show attempted to repair his strained relations with Captain Rehu in her quarters. The conversation, not going well, was interrupted when a Romulan mercenary disguised as an engineering technician and introducing himself as [[Aev Keirianh]] held the pair including the Captain's children at gunpoint. With unusual concern for the children, Keiranh allowed them to leave before informing Lamont he had been sent to kill him and that a large bounty had been placed on his head. Astonished, Lamont was shocked his enemies, at least those he knew of, would go to such lengths and expense to find him in the unexplored expanses of the Beta Quadrant. The mercenary indicated that he would be paid an extra sum for killing Rehu as well as proceeded to eliminate her, but not before Lamont jumped into his line of fire. Rehu managed to keep Keiranh talking just long enough for Lamont to distract him. Using a ceremonial sword from the captain's wall, Lamont managed to disarm Keiranh and forced a sword fight. Lamont's superior swordsmanship as an expert in fencing bested the shaken mercenary. Security was eventually contacted and Keiranh was hauled away to the brig...along with Lamont as a furious Captain blamed the ambassador for endangering her children. Thus Lamont's attempt to salvage his relationship with the captain would have to again wait for another day... 	Lamont is summoned the the bridge by Captain Rehu and is informed the Charon is on the hunt for a Vulcan ship with dangerous technology aboard which if captured by the Romulans could alter the balance of power in the quadrant. The captain tasks him with devising a ruse to distract a formidable Romulan fleet which is likely shadowing the Charon's movements. Lamont accepts his task and pours himself into crafting an ingenious series of tricks to fool the Romulan commanders long enough for the Charon to seize control of the Vulcan ship and destroy or capture its forbidden technology to prevent its capture.

The hologram acting as his sparring partner suddenly turns violent and attacks without warning~~. ~~Unable to stop, cancel, or otherwise use the computer or call for help~~, Lamont ~~finds~~ himself ~~in a fight for~~ his ~~life as the computer attempts~~ to ~~kill him with one of his own holographic creations. Crewman come to~~ his ~~rescue~~ and ~~the holodeck is manually shutdown as holograms lunge at~~ Lamont through the open door only to instantly disappear after stepping outside. Shaken by the experience, Lamont is convinced someone aboard in addition to the mercenary [[Aev Keiranh]] currently in the brig wants him out of ~~the way. 			Lamont is a highly intelligent individual. A master poker player, Lamont prides himself on his ability to read people by observing visual and physical clues. Such skills are highly prized in his profession and Lamont has a strong track record of success in high stakes negotiations, meetings, and diplomatic scenarios.

			Ian is confident while in his element, yet that confidence often disappears when he is in unfamiliar territory outside his domain of conference rooms. Lamont almost never displays public emotion fearing such displays are a sign of weakness or could betray his thoughts and intentions to other skilled negotiators. The end result of such behavior is a repressed emotional state that often simmers, boils, and then explodes without warning. With few close friends to lean on, Lamont often has intense mood swings and is often left to deal with intense personal feelings and emotions alone. He is also often conflicted about his family legacy and restoring his family's honor. Such responsibilities weigh heavily upon him from time to time adding to his moodiness and ill temperament.
