Lyrila is a class M planet located within the Beta Quadrant and well beyond the back edges of the Romulan Star Empire. The planet is inhabited by a long lived species called the Lyrillians. It is believed that the Lyrillians were given a great deal of technology by an advanced species to prevent a cataclysm that would have resulted in the Lyrillians extinction.

When the Charon originally encountered the planet they discovered a massive power signature and went to investigate. Upon their arrival they realized the power signature emanated from a planet that was moving at warp. However, they soon discover that the systems controlling the planet (systems which not only propelled it through space but helped it maintain a habitable atmosphere) had long since begun to decay threatening the entire population of the planet.

The crew of the Charon is able to save the planet and move it into the habitable zone of a solar system.

About the Planet

Lyrila is covered by two main continents and hundreds of island chains that dot the northern hemisphere of the planet. The Capital city Nysinrin is located in a temperate climate zone on the leading edge of a large mountain chain. The city is noted for its beautiful architecture, quaint design, and wide streets. Several cafe's dot the city's center with a perfect view of the mountains just beyond the small towers of the city. There are no buildings over five stories in Nysinrin.

-Before it's displacement the planet was home to an assortment of lifeforms.  It was covered in a vast swath of jungles but it's atmosphere was unstable with several large storms that would pass over the planet.

-One of the lifeforms on the planet was a large predatory creature.  The creature resembled a giant tiger but had a beak that slightly resembled an alligator's maw.  This creature would injure several Charon Away Team members, it's venom a highly toxic neural agent.  It is now extinct as is all life on the planet.
