Early Life

Born in San Francisco, California on Earth. His parents were both doctors in a hospital as Paul was growing up, so the young boy spent a lot of time in and around hospitals. In high school his science fair projects usually revolved around the effects of various drugs on human and alien biological systems, and he received many awards for his efforts. His favorite past times were things like reading medical journals or watching holo-vids of various procedures. It was obvious, even when Jennings was a child, what his passion in life would be.

While he definately had a mind, Paul also took part in playing on his high school's rugby team, earning several high notations. When he was sixteen, he led his team to the national championship, where they lost by one point in the last round. He also enjoyed bowling and playing golf, a sport he still takes part in today. And having being raised in California, he knew the value of a good day on the beach with a towel and a good book.

Starfleet

Then he discovered Starfleet. When he was twelve he won one of his various scientific competitions and one a guided tour of Starfleet Command there in San Francisco Bay. When he was sixteen, as a junior in high school, he was awarded a spot in Starfleet's Summer Seminar. When he was seventeen, now a senior in high school, he applied for a position in Starfleet Academy, wishing to become a medical officer. He was denied the first time. However, he tried again the next year and was accepted. He passed the four year program to go on to study at Starfleet Medical. Then he was assigned, amazingly, as Chief Medical Officer on Midway Station.

His first mission on the station, assigned just days after his arrival, involved a trip with the station's intelligence officer and the station's counselor, Hermione Zeta. They were traveling to a distant planet to search out and locate the crew of the USS Gorgon, a ship that had gone missing, and had just been discovered to be in the hands of another race. When the intelligence officer, now known to be a secret service agent, fled the planet in the USS Scorpion after making contact with the frog-like race, Jennings and Zeta were thrown into a dungeon cell together, charged as secret agents of the Federation. After only a week or so in the dungeon, the pair escaped their cell and were led through a sewer system by a small tribble-like creature. They stole a ship and met up with the USS Miuzi.

Just days after returning to the station, and finally getting to settle into his new office (not to mention actually getting to meet his new staff), subspace bombs ripped through the station, causing massive ammounts of damage. Paul was directly involved in the relief and aide efforts while the ship was evactuated. The crew of Midway was assigned a new Mir-class starbase, and life returned to (a much higher class of) normal.

Shortly thereafter, Jennings assisted in the negotiations (offering medical aide) for mining rights to the Kelorite Ore on Drelik Prime, a planet located not too far from Starbase Midway. He also oversaw the construction of a new medical complex on the planet, and resided there for several weeks (alone with just the Starfleet staff that had gone with him and the Drelik he was working with) before returning to the station; the mission was successful. He was awarded the Golden Heart award for his contributions and the humanitarian aide he had offered to the people of Drelik.

Not long after that, USCR ships arrived at Starbase Midway to deliver a shipment of automatons to work in one of the bars. Secretly these robots had been programmed as attack droids, and were eventually activated. USCR ships eventually launched an attack on the station and boarded. Paul ordered the many, many injured in the Infirmary to be evacuated and made his way to ops and requested to stay. Gotten the permission he needed, he began working on helping those injured, both Starfleet and USCR. Soon the conflict was ended after the USS Warrior arrived with Ensign David King, their own Chief Medical Officer. Together they finished up the task and things returend to a relative normal state.

Deciding that things had been a bit too rough up to this point, he took a 'leave of absence' from Starfleet, but on returning, he discovered a medical mess. Several crewmen dead and/or injured. He returned to duty to help them. It wasn't log after that that Paul put in a transfer request to the Intelligence Department of the Station. He was accepted, and began his career in the more shadowy parts of Starfleet.

About a month after his transfer to Intelligence, he was reassigned to the USS Enterprise as an Assistant Medical Officer. Having had transferred to the Starfleet Intelligence Department, his position on Enterprise deeply disappointed him. Then the United Confederation Fleet was created, a conglomeration of races working together to create a galactic government. This changed everything for the young man, as the now-CSS Enterprise, was assigned to the new creation. Although his rank (Lieutenant) stayed the same, his uniform (now a black jumpsuite-like piece) was completely different, and was the ranking scale.

When he was promoted to Chief Medical Officer, he found that he had missed working as a doctor, and was happy to continue on the ship in such a capacity. But even that position didn't last very long. With the resignation of Sub-Commander Turbo, he was promoted to Acting-Executive Officer. His first Command Experience, he did alright as the First Officer of the UCF's flagship, under the command of Lieutenant Jason Roberts. It was also during this time peroid that he was promoted to Sub-Commander, the United Confederation Fleet's equivalent of Lieutenant Commander.

Several months later he was once again reassigned, but this time back into Starfleet. He would be the new First Officer on the USS Intrepid-C. Paul was very happy to be back in the Starfleet uniform, but was rather sad to leave his friends behind in the Confederation Fleet. He had grown quite used to representing the galaxy as an officer, rather than just Starfleet or the Federation. He also enjoyed the fact that he was no longer a Sub-Commander, but a Lieutenant Commander. And he immidiately took to his new ship's crew.

His first mission with the Intrepid's crew was to Starbucks Station, a Federation starbase that had been taken by the Krivaldi. He led an away team to emancipate the Starbase as another freed the crew of the USS Crazy Horse. The mission was a success, and only one casualty was counted. Cadet Rei Kasha had been shot; she made a full recovery.

Shortly after that, the Intrepid was assigned to investigate a missing survey team, sent to observe the pre-warp Noirean civilization. During the mission, the Prime Directive was violated. A war nearly follwed when Jennings was forced to send down two teams, leading one, to resecue the survey team and a captured away team from Intrepid. The shuttle he was piloting was shot down, and his team prepared to assault a Noirean stronghold. Thankfully Captain Malone found a way to resolve the situation. Immidiately after this mission, Paul was promoted to full Commander.

Saddly, that was the last mission that Jennings would ever complete on the Intrepid-C. Soon after that mission, Starbase 400: Versailles was taken by Vanguard forces, a group who believed the Federation and Starfleet were becoming soft and complacent. The Intrepid, along with the USS Resoultion, USS Cerberus, USS Desire, USS Maximus, and USS Sutherland, set out to free the station. The Vanguard forces had a strong fleet stationed at the captured installation, and Task Force Phoenix was repelled, with massive losses. Two of the three vectors of the Prometheus X-class starship were destroyed (Paul's was the only to survive). He led the recovery of the espcape pods from the two other vectors before limping back to Starbase Twenty-Two, the Second 'Beta' Fleet headquarters.

The Soveriegn-class Intrepid-D was launched within days of the destruction of her predecessor and immediately took the fight back to the Vanguard forces. During the first missions, Paul sustained various injuries, climaxing after the kidnapping of the former Vice President of the Federation. During an attempt to rescue her, Jennings sustained very serious injuries, and was relieved of duty on the Intrepid. He was sent to a Starfleet Medical installation where he spent nearly two months in rehabilitation. After that he as assigned to the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps training camp on Valcone VII.
