Indira was born in 2384 to her parents, Raj and Amani Bai. Raj is a professor of History with the University of Mumbai. Amani is an accomplished linguist and a singer by hobby.
At a very early age, Indira showed to be very adept at several forms of dance. By the age of 16, she had given her arangetram in Bharatnatyam and earned the lead roles in several ballet performances. Her mother encouraged her to apply to Juliard, but she declined and opted for Starfleet Medical Academy. Indira found that, here too, she excelled, but still did not quite make the top rankings for her class.
