With a crew complement of around 350 personnel the USS Charon is filled with a mix of people from different places and cultures. Because of the joint exploration mission currently underway with the Romulan Star Empire a third of the compliment is Romulan (approximately 100). Since the focus of the USS Charon is exploration the largest department on the ship is the science department headed by Commander Ceer followed by the engineering department.
