History

• One of the last of the Excelsior Class variants produced, the USS Corsair has had several captains and crews during its sixty year history. She has served in two wars and has performed countless missions for Starfleet and the Federation with distinction. Her current captain and crew were assigned five years ago when she was transferred from active fleet operations to Starfleet Intelligence. Spared from mothballs and decommissioning on several occasions the Corsair continues to serve the fleet despite her age due to the success and longevity of the Excelsior's rugged and durable design. While no longer a front line capital ship the Corsair quietly fulfills many roles for Starfleet Intelligence attracting far less attention than newer ships of the same rating, function, and capability.

Current Mission

• Assigned to Starfleet Intelligence except in times of extreme emergency or distress. The Corsair's true mission is perpetually clouded in secrecy and classified to all but a handful of ranking officers and officials. Her orders are dispatched from the office of Rear Admiral James Valtren who retains the ship to perform clandestine missions deemed too dangerous or problematic to be performed successfully by others. While the Corsair's orders change - her primary mission is to monitor, investigate, and report on the secretive activities of the powerful NeoDyne Defense Corporation.
