*Charon’s dearest ambassador Lamont finally gets a chance to don his good shirt as he heads down to the planet Lyrilla, accompanied by a CO who seems prepared to indulge his tendency to flourish grand gestures.  For the moment at least.

*Hardly unexpected, the brief cease-fire between Shiarrael Rehu and Lamont ends abruptly when the good ambassador throws all his new gained wisdom out of the airlock and confronts the CO over the tiny matter of him circumventing her authority as a matter of course.  What is unexpected is that Rehu seems to let her mischievous side win out and deals Lamont a punishment not found in Starfleet manuals - do impulse manifolds get cleaner if an ambassador is doing the cleaning?
*Lieutenant D'Vana Xavier finally meets her beloved Ch’Tan who is still recovering in sickbay. Much to the engineer’s delight, she also gets to meet Ch’Krang, her mate’s father.
*at the Governor’s Palace on ch’Krysyn, the malicious Terrh informs tr’Ulhri that the mysterious weapon referred to as ‘Memento Mori’ is nearing completion, but that more test subjects will be required. *Shiarrael Rehu and her security officers Dylan Marcus, Runo Dlya and Acel’a assemble in the transporter room to greet the new arrivals from the Sunheart.  The eccentric surgeon Aehlen tr'Kethry surprises the Starfleet officers with his travel companion - a severed limb, of all things - while a young and rather eager Farien M'Narth tr'Lhoell is not happy about having to let go of his impressive collection of weapons.  The cryptic Tal'Diann Officer Verelan t’Neral escapes closer scrutiny thanks to the bewilderment her fellow Rihannsu have evoked.
*With the CO’s hands full, Lieutenant Sakarra minds the store and actually gets some paperwork done, reducing the ever growing pile on the ready room desk by 38.5 percent.

*Vice Admiral Jolias Enor calls to give Commodore Rehu a talking-to concerning the matter of the missing marines and her creative approach in dealing with the Omega directive.  Rather than getting into a tug-of-war with the Admiral, Rehu demands to be demoted to Captain, giving the ‘desk jockeys’ the satisfaction of having dealt out punishment while at the same time achieving the autonomy she deems necessary to do her job.
*At long last, the bodies of the murdered security guards Edward Hightower and Emilio Ramer are laid to rest on the planet Lyrilla. More than half of Charon’s crew attends the brief ceremony to honor their fellow officers.  Ch’Tan Foster escapes from sickbay with the aid of D’Vana Xavier and together they listen to Shiarrael Rehu’s eulogy, noting their CO’s new rank pips.  Before returning to the ship, Rehu tasks Lieutenant Sakarra with overseeing the repairs to decks two and three and informs her second officer that Charon will break orbit in fifteen hours.

Synopsis

240909.05 Plot Notes

  • Lt Acel'a, Lt Runo Dlya and LtJG Indira Bai reflect on the somewhat out-of-the-oridnary ceremony that accompanied their recent promotions. Dlya and Bai decide on a small celeration and make plans to visit Lyrilia.
  • Commander Paul Jennings finds himself checking on the crew's mood on the recreation deck and ends up having another interesting conversation with the Vulcan helmsman.
  • Ensign Nathaniel Doyle is still troubled by the destruction of Omega and vows to pursue his theory that the molecule has traits of a life-form. Some time later Doyle is visited in the Science lab by Lt. Sakarra who enlists his help with rerouting more detailed sensor readings to the bridge. Instead of bypassing the power troubles, the scientist manages to improvise yet again and the officers set about coordinating a probe launch.
  • The evacuation of deck two is completed at last, despite increased severity of the malfunctions and some uncooperative crewmembers. Commander Marcus informs a rather astonished Lt Sakarra that she will have to share quarters with one of the more difficult individuals. Given the situation, the half-Vulcan agrees.
  • Commander Marcus finds refuge in Lt Lizzy Johnson's quarters, who is by any definition more pleasant company.
  • Lt Cmdr Quentin Calhoun wakes up in sickbay and finds LtJG Indira Bai watching over him. While the engineer has survived his ordeal on the planet, Bai informs him that the radiation he was exposed to has caused irreparable damage. Calhoun must come to terms with the fact that he may be experiencing pain for the rest of his life, which could also be shortened considerably.
  • New personnel from the USS Quantum Fury arrives on Charon, among them Cadet Sutek and Marine Captain Harry Tatlock.
  • On a hidden Neodyne base in Romulan space, a scientist meets his untimely demise at the hands of the devious and quite unscrupulous Terrh, while new test subjects for the facility's illegal experiments arrive in the form of Charon's missing marines. As if that isn't bad enough, Terrh is obviously aware of Charon's presence in this region of space.

Back Logs - prelude to next plot:

  • On board the USS Corsair, Captain Akina gets to meet his new unexpected ally, Taverian Ramius. The two men discuss not only the peronal grievances either has with the powerful and ruthless Alistair Merikai and the atrocities committed by NeoDyne, but come to an uneasy consensus regarding their future cooperation.
  • On Astate the investigation into the mysterious nuclear blast continue, but to Capt Cilvia Savage's frustration no answers are forthcoming. The Captain proceeds to brief Jolias Enor on the situation on Astate and mentions a slightly odd 'layover' by the USS Corsair.

240909.12 Plot Notes

  • Commodore Rehu calls recently promoted Ensign Doyle to her office for a short chat. It turns out the main reason for the discussion is because the Commodore wishes to appoint Doyle to Chief of Science. The young officer ecstatically accepts the new role. The Commodore also informs the new Science Chief that she expects nothing less than the best.
  • Ensign Galen Rufo visits the Commodore to request permission to launch probes to investigate whether or not the rift had been properly sealed. The Commodore questions his motives but agrees to the request.
  • Newly arrived Marine Captain Tatlock meets with Commander Marcus who informs the Marine about the recent ‘difficulty’ in that department. The two discuss political nuances about intergalactic relations before moving on.
  • Lieutenant Tyrax finds her new temporary roommate a bit difficult. After returning from duty to find her quarters rearranged the Lieutenant engages in a lively debate with the tongue-n-cheek Commander.
  • Ambassador Ian Lamont and Grand Proctor Ohoni visit the northern islands to inspect the recent encampments created by Charon crew and Lyrillians alike. M’Riarr and Acel’a move about the crowd- a local child favors the Caitian while Acel’a endeavors to mingle a bit.
