Background
Runo Dlya was born on the U.S.S. Lexington about 6 months after his parents were transferred over as part of the civilian science teams. He quickly adapated to life onboard a starship and though the ship wasn't exactly designed with families in mind, his father and mother made due. They were given large quarters and more off-time. Runo was one of ten children onboard the Lexington and although he was part of the group, he was a loner and distrusted the other children. While living on the Lexington due to his parents posting there during his early childhood and preteen years, the ship encountered a compressed tachyon pulse wave, causing minor damage to the ship and causing the ship to lose main power when Runo was around 5. He was about three feet from a console when it exploded and the person operating the console was flung into him causing him a head injury and sent into a coma just prior to the main part of the wave hitting the ship. Due to his unconscious state and his genetics, the wave had mutagentic effects on his central nervous system and his cellular structure causing him to develop high resistance to telepathy. Through out his life, differing "mutations" have arisen and new abilities bestowed to him, some temporary, some not. Later in his life, around the age of 11, the Lexington was surveying a spatial rift in a far flung sector when a serious case of general paranoia spread throughout the ship affecting the crew. As a strange side effect of the rift, Runo had a new mutation to arise and present itself. He temporally developed telepathy and after others found out that he could read their mind, there was mixed reactions while the rest of the crew was under the influence of the rift. He was confined to his parents quarters and the quarters surrounded by a force field until he could control his telepathy. The captain finally locked out all other officers from the bridge and plotted a suicide course into a planet in a nearby system. However, as the ship got further and further away from the spatial anomoly, the paranoia and panic began to decrease and the command staff was able to divert the ship from its course. Much of Runo's telepathy soon disappeared as exposure to the rift vanished and he was allowed to roam the ship again. Afterwards, the chief science officer with the help of several other officers confirmed that the rift had been the cause of the paranoia that gripped the crew. Currently Starfleet's Division of Telepathic Research has Runo under close watch in case another mutation arises.
Medical History
Broke arm, aged 13, playing football in one of the holodecks on board the Lexington with some friends. Fully recovered from injury.
Physically speaking, Runo is athletic and in good health.
Mentally speaking, Runo has his good days and bad days. He has little control over his receptive telepathy and so far has no mental illnesses or diseases.
Service Record
- Served aboard the U.S.S. Granger, a Akira-class, for his cadet cruise. He was an assistant helm officer until the end of the posting. He then changed his position to a tactical officer and trained for 7 months.
- Accepting position on the U.S.S. Warrior as assistant tactical for first official posting.
- On SD 240709.14 while on an away team to the planet Colony Prime, he was engulfed in a strange phenomenon and he disappeared with it once it dissipated. His whereabouts were unknown and a science detail from the Warrior was unable to locate him. (Left the Warrior as Chief Tactical)
- Around SD 240808.06, he recieved Izmean bio-augmentations to his body, affecting several core systems such as his vision, hearing, metabolism and respiration. With the augments, he is capable of detecting thermal energy if he activates the optical node; his hearing is better than normal humans, can hear higher frequencies of sound and can block out background noise to allow him to focus on one set of sound waves; he can control his breathing and heart rate, as well as being able to store extra oxygen in his cell walls (surviving without breathing for a short time, around 3 to 5 minutes of no outside oxygen intake); he is capable of digesting substances that normal humans would not be able to, as well as process and neutralize toxins within his body faster and more efficiently (ie poisons, alcohol, venom).
- On SD 240901.06, a spatial rift opened on the outskirts of YaDalla Colony and deposited Runo on its surface. He then rejoined Starfleet and accepted a field posting on the U.S.S. Charon docked at Starbase Versailles as one of the Charon's assistant security officers.
Other Notes
Has background training in Federation, Klingon and Vulcan marshal arts. Also studied history of Earth and Alpha Centauri while in the Academy.
While in the Izmeus system, on the other side of the spatial rift, he studied Izmean battle tactics and trained with their armed forces for slightly over a year.
Favorite pastimes includes jogging, reading, holo boxing, adventures in the holodecks, culinary experiments, hiking and praticing with weapons on the holodeck. He also enjoys a game of chess, poker and a few other 20th century card games he learned to play.
