potted favinit

Commonly referred to as "Vulcan Orchids" the favinit is in fact a genus of plants native to Vulcan with a variety of species and a number of subspecies.

The most commonly known type has a spicy scent, spiked petals, and a yellow stalk which can grow as high as three meters. It grows wild in the polar region of Han-Shir and the T'Ralor Nature Preserve, but is also a favorite in many Vulcan public gardens.

An edible subspecies called Yem'favinit is the origin of favinit-butter, but can also be enjoyed sauteed or as a spicy addition to Vulcan lasagna.
