The second oldest in a family of four, Matthew has had more than his share of adventures, foul-ups and other problems. Things were good for him until he entered Starfleet Academy. He wasn't really used to getting his own way all the time, but the instructors at the Academy were demanding. So demanding in fact that one of his instructors contacted Matthew's uncle Jonathan to see if something could be done about his problem nephew. Jonathan said "No problem. I'll invite him for a visit." The visit was nice and short and a small device was implanted in Matthew's head that essentially blocked previous memories and replaced them with replicated images of a past he never had. In 2398, after graduation from the Academy, Matthew was bounced from one ship to another over the course of six months. And he was bounced from position to position. Finally, after almost six months on the Intrepid, Matthew was given orders to report to Starbase Arcadia as the Chief Medical Officer. Things were fine on the Intrepid until the summer of 2399 when he was busted from Lieutenant to Lieutenant Junior Grade by the new Starfleet Commander, among with several other well respected officers in Starfleet. | |||
