Hamal, a K2III orange giant, also known as Alpha Arietis or 13 Arietis, is a star located in Arietis space, near the strategically important Triangulum sector on the Federation's border with the Romulan Star Empire. The Rihannsu name for the star is Orundwiir.
About the Planet
Hamal IV is the homeworld of the arachnoid Hamalki, and the system also houses the Hamalki-built StarBase 18.
Similar to the Horta homeworld Janus VI, the planet's environment is hostile to carbon-based life and most business with other lifeforms is generally conducted on board the starbase. Other than Janus VI however the Hamalki planet has an atmosphere and the native species lives above ground. Visitors and tourists are welcome, and suitable accomodations can be knitted at relatively short notice.
