Lyrila is a class M planet located within the Beta Quadrant and well beyond the back edges of the Romulan Star Empire. The planet is inhabited by a long lived species called the Lyrillians. It is believed that the Lyrillians were given a great deal of technology by an advanced species to prevent a cataclysm that would have resulted in the Lyrillians extinction.
When the Charon originally encountered the planet they discovered a massive power signature and went to investigate. Upon their arrival they realized the power signature emanated from a planet that was moving at warp. However, they soon discover that the systems controlling the planet (systems which not only propelled it through space but helped it maintain a habitable atmosphere) had long since begun to decay threatening the entire population of the planet.
The crew of the Charon is able to save the planet and move it into the habitable zone of a solar system.
