A thorny plant, often used for hedges. 0.5-3 meters high, with a red-maroon bark and feathery, copper colored leaves. Blossoms can be ivory to pale yellow, and have a distinct, citrusy/powdery scent.
The bark and seed pods have antibacterial properties. Kala wood has traditionally been used for cooking and fireplaces, as it has a pleasant scent and produces a steady flame.
Kala grows mostly in equatorial regions, but can be cultivated almost anywhere.
