The T'areshsu are a hardy group residing near the T'aresh Mountains on ch'Rihan's northern continent. The region they call home is covered in snow and ice for half the year whilst the other half it is mostly a cold swamp teeming with wildlfife. The T'areshsu build houses with an unusual architectural style that combines curved roofs in order to resist heavy snow and ice accumulation, along with construction on pilings raised about half a meter off the ground in order to prevent flooding damage during the summertime.
Whilst many Romulans prefer to avoid the cold, the T'areshsu enjoy pitting themselves against the elements which they embrace. They are noted as an energetic people, full of life and eager for challenges. As such, they tend to participate in sports and other outdoor activities regardless of such inconsequential matters as weather; minus twenty degrees Celsius is hardly a reason to cancel a Kormerek match.
This attitude often means that they laugh at outsiders who are unwilling to brave the elements with them, but they will greet anyone capable of keeping up with them. To such individuals, they tend to show an open-hearted honesty and friendliness which in the past has baffled aliens and Starfleeters alike.

History
S`T'areshi is among those of clan Tellus who spread out from the capital to claim their own territory, and being adventurous by nature, found the harsh beauty of northern ch'Rihan to suit them quite well. Taking their name from the majestic T'aresh mountains, the house settled in the foothills where the Ath'rel'ithar (Winds of Frozen Tears) from the polar ice caps collide with the warmer air from the south. These winds often cover the region in heavy snowfall, and it's not unusual for them to develop into blizzards that dump 2 meters worth of snow in one night. During summer, they often cause magnificent thunderstorms - dangerous for anyone caught outside, but delighful to the t'areshsu nonetheless.
Their history is surprisingly peaceful for Rihannsu, a fact they attribute to the circumstance that no one really wants to go up against such a lively people over a territory that is so scarce in resources. Of course to the T'areshsu their home's wealth lies in its natural beauty, and their artworks reflect this. Famous for their colorful tapestries and graceful sculptures, s`T'areshi also manufactures highly prized jewelry from the semi-precious gems found in their mountains. The Ehrie Fvuras (a type of pearly green verdite) is especially sought after and the skills of T'areshsu jewelers in working this stone are second to none.
The abundance of wildlife means T'areshsu are great hunters, and their cuisine depends much on meat and fish caught in the many lakes and rivers.

Verelan Vastarum, the 'Graceful Flyer' - a migratory bird that is very fast for its large size. The lakes of s`T'areshi territory are among the largest Verelan Vastarum breeding grounds on ch'Rihan, and their arrival in spring is always a time for celebration.
