Kaen's family left Cardassia shortly after the Dominion war and settled on an outpost in Alpha Centauri. Kaen's father provided strategic analysis about Cardassia for Starfleet and the Federation and eventually served in the cabinets of two Federation presidents helping to influence the Federation's Cardassian policy.
When he was born Kaen attended a private school in the Alpha Centauri system that was rich with diversity. He excelled in his studies, especially in the form of recreational mixed martial arts. After he graduated from the Academy he was accepted into the Starfleet Academy campus in Alpha Centauri and later transferred to San Francisco where he completed his training in Station and Vessel Security.
When he finished his training he accepted an assignment to the USS Constellation as a security officer and then later transferred the USS Honokaa as Assistant Security Officer.
In early 2409 he accepted advanced promotion to Lieutenant Commander and accepted the position of Executive Officer aboard the Quantum Fury.
Personality
Kaen is considered by most to be a pretty laid back person known to bend the rules from time to time. However, he is excellent at combat and not someone you want to be around when he is mad.
