The Five

A small group of 5 symbionts who are the closest thing to an equivalent of 'royal' elders among the symbiont race. They are the oldest of the joined symbionts that are known to exist, and have a seated interest in the happenings of the Trill government and its people. While they are usually cast in roles of great importance, even more so than usual for a joined Trill, they are deeply rooted in mystery. Typically, and in almost every aspect, The Five act outside of the Trill government as an independent group. Some believe them to be the first to develop finer mental skills in joining. Others believe them nothing more than the oldest of the line.

Among The Five, each fills a roll which is passed on from host to host, specific to each symbiont.
