A large coniferous evergreen tree, 30–35 meters (rarely 40 meters) tall, with a trunk diameter of 1.5–2 meters. It is very similar to an Atlas cedar, with mid- to dark green needles and a rust colored bark.
Native to the Heyalar t'L'langon it occurs most abundantly at altitudes of 600–2000 meters where it often forms mixed forests with the ic'tan. The sher'khah is not as widely cultivated, as it grows best in the unique soil of central Llangon, but a green-golden leafed, smaller subspecies is very popular as ornamental tree.
The wood is highly prized for its beautiful color and patterns, and is used for the ka'athyra.
The fragrant resin has various applications, and is used as a dye, painting pigment, and medicine. Similar in scent to Terran Dragon's Blood it is also occasionally used in soaps and bath oils.
