The First Ship to bear the name USS Crazy Horse was an Excelsior Class Exploration vessel under the command of Captain Enzo Rudolfini in 2333. The ship would have a long career spanning several decades and participate in many important missions.  In 2369 the Crazy Horse participated in Task Force 3 along with the USS Enterprise-D, USS Gorkon, and USS Agamemnon after the Borg attack on outpost Ohniaka III. In 2382 the USS Crazy Horse under the command of Captain Ada Nanchang disappeared in the Seval system while conducting a survey of gaseous anomalies. A two week search and rescue mission yielded no clues as to the fate of the Crazy Horse and subsequent searches have never been able to locate a trace of the ship.  On 238206.11 Star fleet would officially declared that USS Crazy Horse was lost with all hands aboard.
The first IRW Aylhr was the prototype of the formidable D’Aylhr-class Command Cruiser, a warship built to dominate the stars. In 2400, she was stationed at Koahht Hama, swiftly rising to prominence as the flagship of Rhi’Galae (5th Fleet). When the conflict with the Klingon Empire came to an unexpected halt and the Romulan Star Empire turned its sights on the Federation, Riov tr’Thrai led the Aylhr into battle, securing decisive victories at Drakken III and Barradas. However, the tide turned at the Battle of Yadalla, where the Romulans suffered a costly defeat. In the aftermath, Conn’Hae tr’Rok assumed command, and the warship was reassigned to Galae’tho (6th Fleet).

Second ship to bear the name USS Crazy Horse was launched on Stardate 240012.16 under the command of Captain Kroll. The USS Crazy Horse A was an Akira Class ship and based out of Trilista Colony.  The ship would undergo two command changes over the next five years as Captain Trael Bren would replace Captain Kroll. Later Captain Jeral Ariela would take over command.  During a psychotic episode on SD240608.07 Captain Jeral Ariela would trigger the ship's self destruct sequence. Fortunately most of the crew were able to evacuate prior to the ship's destruction. Captain Ariela disappeared shortly after the incident and is still wanted by Starfleet Command for questioning.
By 2401, the Aylhr found itself on high alert when intelligence reported that a terrorist faction had hijacked the D’Deridex-class warbird t’Rakla from Koahht Versailles. Erie’Riov tr’Caernu, a rising tactician, swiftly organized his wing to hunt the rogue vessel. Detecting a faint cloaking signature, the Aylhr joined three K’Sejnik-class Destroyers—aging but still deadly warships—in pursuit. The chase led them across the Neutral Zone, where they engaged the stolen warbird. However, the enemy was no ordinary foe—the Revenge Faction of Zakdorn, renowned for their strategic brilliance, had taken control.

The USS Crazy Horse B was a Defiant Class Starship that never saw service in the Second Dominion War, having been rushed out of the drydock too late. The multi-role escort was taken to the Starfleet Reserve Surplus Depot, under the purview of the Proxima Maintenance Yards, in the Proxima Centauri System (Alpha Centauri C) where it has drifted unused.
The battle was fierce, and tragedy struck when the SRR Terha, one of the Romulan destroyers, was lost. As a Federation patrol closed in, tr’Caernu was forced to withdraw, unwilling to risk an interstellar incident. Yet, he had a final gambit—before retreating, a covert operative aboard the Aylhr had successfully beamed onto the enemy ship and placed a transponder beacon. Though unknown to the enemy crew, this would mark the t’Rakla should it ever return to Romulan space.

The vessel had remained there untouched for four years, components missing or salvaged, never quite completed or made fit for use, until she was formally commissioned and refurbished on SD241205.10 as the USS Crazy Horse C. She was tasked specifically to undergo a series of recon missions near Krivaldi space, a hostile species who have begun stirring once more. That the original USS Crazy Horse had made first contact with the Krivaldi over eight years ago, it seemed destiny played a hand in the choice.
By 2403, the Aylhr came under the command of Erie’Riov Argelian tr’Ahaefvthe, a cunning officer whose first mission took him deep into the Neutral Zone to disrupt an illicit smuggling operation. Capturing a band of Orion smugglers, the crew uncovered a sinister plot involving the Romulan narcotic “mindbang”, a drug known for its devastating effects. Their investigation revealed that the shipment was bound for Vulcan, destined for a wanted fugitive—an exiled Romulan spy. Tr’Ahaefvthe made a cold, calculated decision: if the Empire could not have its fugitive, then addiction would claim him instead.

The USS Crazy Horse C was a neglected and malfunction-prone hull ship was placed under the Command of a green (pun fully intended), freshly promoted Vulcan Captain. His first task was to carefully chose a fine experienced crew to man her. After a two year mission the vessel would be severely damaged and recalled after an incident along the Cardassian border.
Under Argelian’s leadership, the Aylhr played a pivotal role in the Jurei War Campaign, later assisting the Romulan resistance in overthrowing Galae’EnRiov tr’Mandak. His success earned him a prestigious title—Khre’Riov—and upon his bonding in 2406, he took the surname Verelan. Soon after, he assumed command of the 6th Fleet, departing the Aylhr and leaving behind a legacy of strategic brilliance.

In 2407, the Aylhr was reassigned to Ahuian, serving as the command ship of the Romulan legate and the flagship of the formidable Ael’Riov Shiarrael t’Rehu. The warship soon found itself at the heart of a brewing galactic conflict—the Second Dominion War. It was aboard the Aylhr that t’Rehu uncovered a chilling truth: the Dominion intended to invade the Romulan Star Empire after crushing the Federation. Facing a grim future, she convened with the Rhi’Galae (5th Fleet), making a daring proposition—to aid the Federation and strike first.

The Fourth vessel to hold the name Crazy Horse is the Magellen Class. This ship is on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to the junker that was the Defiant Class. The Magellen Class is huge and similar in size to the colossal Excalibur Class ships. The main difference with the Magellen is that it's designed for war, the extensive sensor pallets and science equipment have been replaced by additional weapons, more torpedo launchers and enough fighter berths to house an entire wing. The ship houses over 2000 crew and does not hold many civilians.  Unfortunately the amount of upgraded weaponry caused an unintended feedback loop during a combat simulation and many of the ships internal systems were destroyed.
With EnRiov Argelian tr’Verelan’s reluctant approval, the Aylhr led a devastating preemptive assault on a Lyran fleet preparing to join the Dominion war effort at Typhon. The Romulans launched a surprise attack, obliterating the Lyran forces and delivering a crippling blow to the Dominion’s war plans. The Aylhr had once again altered the course of history.

Deciding that the cost of repair would be too significant Starfleet junked the USS Crazy Horse D and replaced her with the USS Crazy Horse E an insignia class ship placed under the Command of Captain Robert Lansing. After a short duration the Captain would resign his post and be replaced by Commander Zivit Agron- though the toll of command and lack of preparation would eventually lead to Starfleet replacing her with Captain Khiy Kanryth.

D'Aylhr Class (First IRW Aylhr)

History

By the war’s end, the once-proud warship was decommissioned, left in a mothball fleet until 2415, when the Klingon Empire launched a sudden incursion into Romulan space. Hastily reactivated, the Aylhr joined an emergency strike force, facing off against Klingon warships in the Battle of Dherex. The fight was brutal, and the Aylhr sustained catastrophic damage, left derelict in the aftermath. Declared unsalvageable, the legendary vessel was towed to the Romulan ship-breaking facility in orbit around Constantus, where its materials were repurposed for a new generation of warships.

But legends do not die so easily.

In 2421, from the salvaged remains of its predecessor, a new IRW Aylhr emerged—a state-of-the-art D’Dherex-class warbird, commissioned to carry on the legacy of its fallen namesake. Under the command of Riov Rhae'go tr'Neyl, the Aylhr once again sails the stars, ready to carve its name into history.
