Succeeding Plot: Maker's Heart(Plot)

Two months and three weeks into her journey towards the stellar nursery the Charon’s powerful sensors detect a mysterious signal from a region of unstable and disturbed subspace. After closer inspection by members of the science department it is determined that the signal is actually a Klingon distress code.

Referencing the Charon’s library it was discovered that the generic distress code was used by the Klingon Empire up until 2320 where it was replaced by more specific codes. After consulting with the senior staff, Shiarrael decided to change course and investigate the signal. The crew can only wonder about what happened to bring the Klingons of that time out so far and also if it would pose a threat to the Charon.

Synopsis

The science department is able to isolate the source of the signal to a planetary system located deep within the area of disturbed subspace. Using veins of subspace stability the Charon slowly makes her way to the source. When they arrive in orbit of the Class M planet they recognize the body of the D-7 Klingon Cruiser lying in the middle of a massive jungle. Deciding to investigate the crash Commodore Rehu orders Captain Fisher to form an away team. Due to a large amount of EM interference in the planet's atmosphere the team is forced to take a shuttle down to the planet.

During the shuttle's decent a electrical discharge from the a storm strikes the shuttle causing to crash on the planet's surface. Unable to contact the shuttle Shiarrael decides to send a second away team down to the planet to check on the first team and to also survey the planet. Commander Ceer from the science department is selected to lead the second away team.

Meanwhile on the Charon events take a chaotic turn. A marine, Captain Joseph Bosque, attacked and killed two security officers guarding the commodore's quarters. Bosque then proceeds into her quarters and takes her children hostage. Realizing that something is amiss after a alarm alerts her to the deactivation of the holo-nanny Shiarrael leaves the bridge to investigate.

Inside her quarters the Commodore discovers the dead bodies of the two security officers and finds Bosque holding her youngest son with a small blade pressed against the child's cheek. He orders the commodore to disembowel herself with the honor blade she keeps on her wall. After a tricking Bosque she is able to disarm and kill him. Security personnel and medical personnel quickly arrive along with Commander Becker.

Back on the planet the first away team conducts a hard landing. However, the away team members are in one piece and slowly exit the shuttle. Outside of the shuttle Commander Foster discovers a Klingon woman observing them. After a short altercation Ch'Tan is able to speak with the woman who informs him that the Klingons crash landed on the planet several years ago, however, she does not believe him when he informs her of the current date since she does not believe they have been on the planet for almost a century.

Meanwhile on the Charon the second away team led by Commander Ceer departs the ship. However, they are missing Lieutenant Dlya who was ordered by Commander Becker to round up the Marines.

The second shuttle makes a smooth descent to surface and they are able to locate the crash site of the first shuttle. However, due to terrain difficulties they are forced to land a few kilometers away. Commander Ceer and Ensign Bai both head to the crash site with security escorts while Lieutenant Suuraht and Ensign Natira begin examining and taking samples of local fauna.

The first away team is informed by Karare about the local carnivorous creatures that stalk the planet. As they travel the forest they are attacked by the two of the creatures. Captain Fisher and Yavyn Arc are seriously wounded while Commander Foster and the Klingon Karare are able to defeat their primitive assailant.
