The Evekh are a fiercely independent, blue-collar proud, unruly kind of family. They value only that which is gained through one's own blood, sweat and tears - anything else is cheap and worthless. With little interest in political games, the Evekh mostly keep to themselves on their home territory unless you bother them -- then it's an-eye-for-an-eye justice they will seek. Occasionally they will join in uprising when mnhei'sahe demands it. If beaten back, they retreat to ground in their territory's high land where they are impossible to root out. Then they come back just as strong and stubborn as before.
Their sword-smiths are renowned throughout the Empire; they forge all the swords for the Rei'Krannsu Black Suns. Despite the fact that their blades are highly sought after, the Evekh remain a Lesser House, because they refuse to play politics and much of their fortune goes to maintaining their large family but also because they rigidly hold-fast to the Old Ways - often causing them to be regarded as backward and archaic. However, it is a mistake to dismiss the lack of status for lack of power. The majority of the family do their military service in the Gai'Shian where they forge "band of brother" loyalties with fellow soldiers and their families. As such, they have a vast network of working-class people they can call upon.
Shedding blood in service of duty is at the heart of who this family is - there is no greater honor. They consider themselves true Rihannsu through and through and no one can tell them different. Difficult and intractable at the best of times, but if you go to war, these are the people you want on your side.

History
The Evekh took its name from an early Vulcan ancestor when they left the House Yehenik to follow S'Task and his Declared to a new world. On ch'Rihan, they followed the Khelliana clan south and while exploring found the Firefalls of Gal Gath'thong. Deeply touched by the majesty and power of that forbidding land, the Evekh claimed it as their own and remained ever since.
Their history is as turbulent as the Empire itself. They have fended off every attack on them due to their fierce resistance but also because the land itself is so rocky and formidable that invaders must be willing to pay a punishing price and the lack of obvious resources or wealth in the land hardly makes it worth it. Yet the Evekh claw out a living, using its natural geothermal properties for power generation and it's perpetual lava flows to heat their forges.
For all their brute strength, they are shocking artisans. Besides their weaponry and metal-work, they also are glass-blowers, sculptors - particularly from "stringing" lava itself. Prized almost as highly as their swords is their blackglass: rock blasted in volcanic heat into shiny smooth obsidian from which they make dishware, ceremonial objects that are wholly unique because of a fiercely-protected family secret technique called "fire-veining". They learned how to etch patterns just below the glassy surface in what almost looks like the veins in marble.

On the southern continent of Kaevra-llaiir'Rhien (Heart's Fireblood) of ch'Rihan.
Voreth has been volcanically for over a millennia, continuously erupting, charring swathes of land in black rock. Yet as it breaks down, the soil becomes rich and bountiful forests grow. The snow-capped mountain range of Gal Gath'thong cuts through this land with several valleys, including the Valley of Chula when the landscape is renowned for its natural beauty: rocks sculpted in the last lava flow. From the peaks flows the famed Firefalls of Gal Gath'thong.
