A graceful bird of prey with gold and brown feathers, a massive 2.5 meter wingspan, and powerful musculature that allows it to propel itself along the mild wind currents of Vulcan's atmosphere.
Although carnivorous and with two pairs of sharp golden talons, the shavok's prey consists mostly of small rodents, reptiles and the occasional small tsh'in; and it generally poses no threat to an adult Vulcan.
Desert dwellers consider it good fortune to encounter a shavokh when traveling, for where it descends to ground one can usually find water.
One of the ships leaving Vulcan during The Sundering was named Shavokh; it was one of the seven ships which survived to reach the Eisn system.
