Former head of the Vulcan Science Council (not to be confused with the Ministry of Science which has been led by Satelk for the past three decades), and main force behind the expedition which brought a dozen Vulcan Scientists to meet with Charon on the outer fringes of Romulan space.
Renowned for both her sharp logic and often ruthless application of it, T'Pelar has risen to this prestigious and influential post through what many consider politics rather than merit, but she certainly is qualified to hold the position. Though rarely noticed by outworlders, this has led to occasional tension between the Science Academy and its ruling Council, culminating in an open rift between T'Pelar and the Academy's Chief Starship Designer and Engineer, T'Meni. The situation escalated by 2408 when select members of the council declared the Temep`Shar project State Secret, effectively taking control of the ship from her designers and placing it solely in T'Pelar's hands.
Subsequent events proved disastrous for the council when the Temep`Shar never returned from her first test flight and any attempts to locate her on the far side of the Rihannsu Star Empire's space failed. Determined to not let such advanced technology fall into Romulan hands T'Pelar lobbied for the USS Charon to be sent on a mission of exploration to the stellar cluster from which last telemetry had been received and at last traveled to meet with the Starfleet vessel in 2409.
Unknown to T'Pelar, a V'Shar agent with a personal agenda sent an associate to warn his friend and protegee Sakarra Tyrax of the deception. True to form said little Vulcan proceeded to obtain proof of Temep`Shar's existence and presented it to her Captain - culminating in a race to find the doomed ship and keep the technology out of Romulan hands.
T'Pelar found herself incarcerated for the rest of the mission, though she escaped Shiarrael t`Rehu's first option of being ejected from an airlock of her crew's choosing.
Subsequent events saw T'Pelar a captive of the Vaek'Riov Itsak tr'Sahen in his attempt to refine the Memento Mori virus. She was among the few survivors on IRW Endless Sky after the attack on her home world, and succeeded in bringing charges of treason against Commander Sakarra.
While the files of said proceedings are not available at present, the Commander was cleared of all charges; and T'Pelar chose to resign from her position rather than be expelled in disgrace after her involvement in the events surrounding Charon was being investigated.
