A flowering plant species in the palm family, cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. Standing anywhere between 5 to 20 meters tall, chakh grow singly or form a clump with several stems from a single root system. The large, feathery leaves can form a crown ranging 7 to 12 meters in size, providing not only shade but ample room for lara birds and other animals, making the trees a favorite in many parks and public gardens.

Chakh can grow quite old, some lovingly tended specimens in Shi'Kahr are reportedly 700 years old.

The tree likely originated in Shi'Al and Xial, though it is widely cultivated and evidence of chakh groves in Raal and Khomi dates back thousands of years.

The fruits taste similar to Circassian figs and Candlenut, and are brown to dark red in color. They are widely used in a range of sweet and savory dishes, from cookies to puddings, or stuffed with nuts. In some regions chakh bread is a common breakfast food. Chakh syrup is a main ingredient of prusah kisan.
