Well over a year into her journey, the Charon reaches the fringes of the Yy'a nebula she has set out to explore.
As the crew begins to survey this magnificent green and gold expanse in the far reaches of Romulan space, they are surprised by a distress signal sent from a planet on the far side of Yy'a. Two modified shuttles, followed by Charon, cross the nebula and find ch'Dabhae, home to exiled political dissidents from Romulus.
The away teams are greeted by a grueling scenario, with the population of the first settlement they encounter wiped out by a mysterious plague and bodies piled in the streets and outside hospitals. While Captain t'Rehu is unsettled by the similarities to another plague she once encountered, she refuses to jump to conclusions. When two away teams find survivors in small scattered villages, they attempt to investigate the cause of the disaster and render whatever aid possible. Their efforts are cut short however when a garbled message reaches them - Charon is under attack by unknown assailants and something is launched into the atmosphere - has Charon been lured into a trap?
Who is this faceless enemy and are they the same people who decimated ch'Dabhae's population?
Synopsis
240909.05 Plot Notes
- Lt Acel'a, Lt Runo Dlya and LtJG Indira Bai reflect on the somewhat out-of-the-oridnary ceremony that accompanied their recent promotions. Dlya and Bai decide on a small celeration and make plans to visit Lyrilia.
- Commander Paul Jennings finds himself checking on the crew's mood on the recreation deck and ends up having another interesting conversation with the Vulcan helmsman.
- Ensign Nathaniel Doyle is still troubled by the destruction of Omega and vows to pursue his theory that the molecule has traits of a life-form. Some time later Doyle is visited in the Science lab by Lt. Sakarra who enlists his help with rerouting more detailed sensor readings to the bridge. Instead of bypassing the power troubles, the scientist manages to improvise yet again and the officers set about coordinating a probe launch.
- The evacuation of deck two is completed at last, despite increased severity of the malfunctions and some uncooperative crewmembers. Commander Marcus informs a rather astonished Lt Sakarra that she will have to share quarters with one of the more difficult individuals. Given the situation, the half-Vulcan agrees.
- Commander Marcus finds refuge in Lt Lizzy Johnson's quarters, who is by any definition more pleasant company.
- Lt Cmdr Quentin Calhoun wakes up in sickbay and finds LtJG Indira Bai watching over him. While the engineer has survived his ordeal on the planet, Bai informs him that the radiation he was exposed to has caused irreparable damage. Calhoun must come to terms with the fact that he may be experiencing pain for the rest of his life, which could also be shortened considerably.
- New personnel from the USS Quantum Fury arrives on Charon, among them Cadet Sutek and Marine Captain Harry Tatlock.
- On a hidden Neodyne base in Romulan space, a scientist meets his untimely demise at the hands of the devious and quite unscrupulous Terrh, while new test subjects for the facility's illegal experiments arrive in the form of Charon's missing marines. As if that isn't bad enough, Terrh is obviously aware of Charon's presence in this region of space.
Back Logs - prelude to next plot:
- On board the USS Corsair, Captain Akina gets to meet his new unexpected ally, Taverian Ramius. The two men discuss not only the peronal grievances either has with the powerful and ruthless Alistair Merikai and the atrocities committed by NeoDyne, but come to an uneasy consensus regarding their future cooperation.
- On Astate the investigation into the mysterious nuclear blast continue, but to Capt Cilvia Savage's frustration no answers are forthcoming. The Captain proceeds to brief Jolias Enor on the situation on Astate and mentions a slightly odd 'layover' by the USS Corsair.
240909.12 Plot Notes
- Commodore Rehu calls recently promoted Ensign Doyle to her office for a short chat. It turns out the main reason for the discussion is because the Commodore wishes to appoint Doyle to Chief of Science. The young officer ecstatically accepts the new role. The Commodore also informs the new Science Chief that she expects nothing less than the best.
- Ensign Galen Rufo visits the Commodore to request permission to launch probes to investigate whether or not the rift had been properly sealed. The Commodore questions his motives but agrees to the request.

- Ambassador Ian Lamont and Grand Proctor Ohoni visit the northern islands to inspect the recent encampments created by Charon crew and Lyrillians alike. M’Riarr and Acel’a move about the crowd- a local child favors the Caitian while Acel’a endeavors to mingle a bit.
240909.19 Plot Notes
- Indira Bai and Runo Dlya head to Lyrilia where they take in the sights, buy some souvenirs and meet some old acquaintances in the form of rather inquisitive children. In the evening they are introduced to the new Lyrillian tradition of 'toasting' the sunset and are amused by the notion this custom was in fact started by Charon's very own ambassador.
- Harry Tatlock, Charon's new marine is exploring the ship
- Ensign M’Riarr meets with Counselor Jennings and manages to put a few dents in the Commander’s office furniture. Other than that, the session with the clumsy Caitian can be called successful and ends in a lunch invitation.
- The Rei’Krannsu flagship Sunheart arrives in orbit. Her Commander, Jamor tr’Sahen demands to speak with Commodore Rehu and manages to irritate the Vulcan Lieutenant on the bridge by transporting armed soldiers to the beach where her CO and the children try to enjoy some R&R. True to form, Rehu deals with the rudeness in her usual swift manner and grudgingly agrees to talk to her grandfather on board the Sunheart. Although the talk turns into a duel and then an all out fight which Rehu finishes by breaking the general’s nose, she can be persuaded to allow a bodyguard for her children on Charon, as well as some new personnel.
- Counselor Jennings meets with Lt Cmdr Calhoun in sickbay, attempting to help the engineer to at least begin to cope with the cruel prognosis. Although Calhoun strongly objects to being called a hero, he is gratified that the planet is safe and the Lyrillians are both happy and busy rebuilding their world. During the conversation Paul Jennings comes to reflect on past events as well.
- After spending a sleepless night on Lyrilia, Lieutenant Runo Dlya returns to Charon and visits the holodeck for some meditation and training exercise. On the way back to his quarters he is called by Commander Marcus to report to the transporter room.
- The quite eccentric Arrain Aehlen I’Ramnau tr’Kethry arrives on board to assume his post as ship’s surgeon.
- Another new officer, Lieutenant D’Vana Xavier, arrives from the Quantum Fury and reports to her new CO. After Rehu informs the half-Klingon of LtCmdr Ch’tan’s condition, the engineer leaves to visit her mate in sickbay.
- A quite annoyed Ensign Galen Rufo learns that one of the new personnel, Sutek, has been assigned to Stellar Cartography. While the Vulcan happily begins to tinker in the lab, Rufo heads to the Chief of Science to lodge a complaint and just so manages not to knock out the completely unfazed human.
- Lt(JG) Indira Bai reflects on her recent trip to Lyrilia while enjoying a cup of Chai in her quarters.
- Ensign Nathaniel Doyle finds an unusual malfunction in the sensor pod and decides to bring in more personnel in order to determine the cause.
- After finally having been released from sickbay, Quentin Calhoun begins to feel the emotional impact of his ordeal and the gruesome consequences.
Back Logs
- Commander Marcus briefs Commodore Rehu about the findings concerning the murder investigation and the attack on Lt.Cmdr Ch’tan Foster. The CO’s cryptic behavior leads the security chief to suspect that Rehu might know more than she lets on.
Plot Back Logs
- Captains Taverian Ramius and Zane Akina meet with an informant who tells them a story of yet another of NeoDyne’s atrocities. Although certainly interesting, the information fails to provide the men with a lead. Ramius’ suspicion that they have been lead into a trap is confirmed when they are ambushed, however the cunning Captain pulls another rabbit out of his hat and they return to the Corsair no worse for the wear.
- On board the Corsair, Ramius’ XO Alanis Novada confronts him about the current mission and the Captain’s more than usual cryptic behavior. At first Ramius is angry to learn that Admiral Valtren, his adoptive father, has told Novada about his unique abilities, but eventually decides to take his XO and new ally into his confidence.
240909.26 Plot Notes
- Charon’s dearest ambassador Lamont finally gets a chance to don his good shirt as he heads down to the planet Lyrilla, accompanied by a CO who seems prepared to indulge his tendency to flourish grand gestures. For the moment at least.
- In full diplomatic gear (and regalia), Lamont exchanges pleasantries with Grand Proctor Ohoni and an official treaty of relations is signed before the ceremony evolves into a planetary party.
- Hardly unexpected, the brief cease-fire between Shiarrael Rehu and Lamont ends abruptly when the good ambassador throws all his new gained wisdom out of the airlock and confronts the CO over the tiny matter of him circumventing her authority as a matter of course. What is unexpected is that Rehu seems to let her mischievous side win out and deals Lamont a punishment not found in Starfleet manuals - do impulse manifolds get cleaner if an ambassador is doing the cleaning?
- Lieutenant D'Vana Xavier finally meets her beloved Ch’Tan who is still recovering in sickbay. Much to the engineer’s delight, she also gets to meet Ch’Krang, her mate’s father.
- at the Governor’s Palace on ch’Krysyn, the malicious Terrh informs tr’Ulhri that the mysterious weapon referred to as ‘Memento Mori’ is nearing completion, but that more test subjects will be required. Hoping that cooperation will earn him power and eventually a seat on the senate, the governor eagerly agrees.
- Shiarrael Rehu and her security officers Dylan Marcus, Runo Dlya and Acel’a assemble in the transporter room to greet the new arrivals from the Sunheart. The eccentric surgeon Aehlen tr'Kethry surprises the Starfleet officers with his travel companion - a severed limb, of all things - while a young and rather eager Farien M'Narth tr'Lhoell is not happy about having to let go of his impressive collection of weapons. The cryptic Tal'Diann Officer Verelan t’Neral escapes closer scrutiny thanks to the bewilderment her fellow Rihannsu have evoked.
- With the CO’s hands full, Lieutenant Sakarra minds the store and actually gets some paperwork done, reducing the ever growing pile on the ready room desk by 38.5 percent.
- Shiarrael Rehu is visited by her mother who appears little impressed by the ship her daughter commands. In the end, Nhasaen t'Rehu grudgingly accepts Shiarrael’s decision and happily spends time with her grandchildren before returning to the Sunheart.
- Ch'Krang bids his son a cordial farewell before taking the IKS Ya’Vang out of orbit and sets a course back home.
- Vice Admiral Jolias Enor calls to give Commodore Rehu a talking-to concerning the matter of the missing marines and her creative approach in dealing with the Omega directive. Rather than getting into a tug-of-war with the Admiral, Rehu demands to be demoted to Captain, giving the ‘desk jockeys’ the satisfaction of having dealt out punishment while at the same time achieving the autonomy she deems necessary to do her job.
- At long last, the bodies of the murdered security guards Edward Hightower and Emilio Ramer are laid to rest on the planet Lyrilla. More than half of Charon’s crew attends the brief ceremony to honor their fellow officers. Ch’Tan Foster escapes from sickbay with the aid of D’Vana Xavier and together they listen to Shiarrael Rehu’s eulogy, noting their CO’s new rank pips. Before returning to the ship, Rehu tasks Lieutenant Sakarra with overseeing the repairs to decks two and three and informs her second officer that Charon will break orbit in fifteen hours.
- In the Vulcan’s quarters Commander Tisdale and some friends meet for a round of Texas Hold’Em. The resulting little party is interrupted when the original resident enters her home, but to their surprise, the group doesn’t find themselves tossed out on their... uh, behinds.
Back Logs
- In San Francisco, the mystery of a missing girl and Nathaniel Doyle with his gang of intrepid cadets continues to unfold.
- Back in the Star Empire, a Tal Shiar operative is recalled from leave and receives a new assignment - one that can be described as slightly unusual. Outfitted with not only with a whole new identity but in fact a different gender, the operative heads towards Charon and an interesting time.
- Lt(JG) Indira Bai gets to treat a mildly intoxicated Vulcan with a case of the hiccups.
Plot Back Logs
- On board the Corsair, Taverian Ramius and his new ally Akina come across an interesting lead - the name of a disreputable scientist appears in connection with the NeoDyne facility on Astate and points towards a desolate region of space. After a slightly one-sided debate, the stubborn Captain Ramius prevails and the USS Corsair gets underway to pick up ‘insurance’ before following the trail.
240910.03 Plot Notes
- Captain Rehu visits her Chief Engineer in his domain and suggests he visit the planet, but Quentin Calhoun is intent on getting ‘his’ ship back into top condition. Not to mention that the engineer is still coming to terms with his own condition.
- Counselor Paul Jennings runs into Shiarrael Rehu’s stubborn streak when he attempts to explain the possible effects of her recent demotion to the crew’s morale. Rather than agreeing to counseling, the lovely Captain contemplates just how far one might be able to throw a counselor. Still the clever Jennings manages to stand his ground … more or less.
- Commander Marcus and Farein tr’Lhoell meet in the Security Chief‘s office. While Marcus finds the young Farein’s devotion to duty admirable, he does voice minor objections to having a two-legged armory walk around Charon. Anyways, the Captain can pack quite a punch herself.
- Before returning to sickbay, Lt. Cmdr Ch’Tan Foster presents his beloved D’Vana with a most romantic gift in his quarters. Who needs flowers when you have Mek’leths?
- erie'Arrain t'Neral is still struggling with her recent … uh … change, making for a mildly grumpy and mightily confused Rihanha. Still, she manages to have a talk with her new Captain without provoking a fight or ending in sickbay - which is more than can be said for some other crewmembers.
- Somewhere not too far from Charon, the IRW ‘Endless Sky’ under command of Itsak tr’Sahen investigates whatever happened to the Federation Marines and while they’re at it, clean up some ‘would-be pirates‘. On another note, the Vaek’Riov rightly suspects that the region’s governor is up to yet another of his not so little schemes.
- In Charon’s shuttle bay the Marine Captain Harry Tatlock gets to meet a friendly Caitian Ensign. After his initial surprise at being purred at by a rather big lioness, Harry accepts M’Riarr’s invitation to lunch.
- Deck three is finally back up and running (yay!) although there are a few comical setbacks to report and Lieutenant Sakarra learns about a fascinating human piece of clothing called ‘garters’. Commander Dylan Marcus aids the Vulcan by personally repairing the security AI on the deck, earning himself a cup of coffee and a grateful colleague.
- Moving on to deck two, the repairs are held up briefly by an engineer unwilling to enter the Captain’s quarters for fear of receiving a ‘Look’. Eventually however even this hiccup is sorted out and the crew can return to their homes. On that occasion Lieutenant Sakarra also learns that she has been assigned a new domicile.
- Ian Lamont’s stint to the holodeck turns from a fencing exercise into an all out melee with a holographic Romulan opponent. One is left to wonder why the good ambassador always needs to get himself beaten to a bloody pulp in order to have another epiphany.
- Commander Eithne Katris has an unexpected but deeply emotional reunion with Commander Jade Falcon and their daughter who had long been presumed lost.
- Dylan Marcus surprises Lieutenant Lizzy Johnson with a romantic dinner on Eris Deck, where the two officers enjoy some seafood while catching up on recent events.
- Lieutenant Sareel I’Nia sifts through intelligence reports in her office and comes across some information which catches her attention as unusual.
- Captain Rehu is oddly delighted to learn about the new nickname bestowed upon her by the crew. Taking the matter in stride, the newly christened “Tyrant of Charon” announces that the ship will leave orbit soon and schedules a mission briefing for the senior staff. For good measure, she threatens brig time for any of the crew who dare to dawdle on the way back.
- In the Security Office, Commander Marcus briefs Lieutenants Runo Dlya and Acel’a as well as Charon’s new Marine Harry Tatlock and the eager young Farein M'Narth tr’Lhoell on their new duties. While Dlya gets saddled with the post of assistant Chief of Security, the others are assigned to reinforce security around the Captain and her children. Not surprisingly, this causes a bit of a debate, especially when tr’Lhoell insists on the rigid measures he deems necessary.
- Lieutenant Sakarra receives some unannounced visitors in her new quarters and ends up with not only a house-warming gift, but a nosy Commander and overbearing (in a rather adorable kind of way) half-Betazoid as guests for the evening.

Making their way to the bridge, they discuss their new ship and CO. The meeting with Rehu leaves both officers a bit surprised and in Dr King’s case, just a little embarrassed.
- Because her ship isn’t turbulent enough already, Shiarrael t’Rehu gets to welcome yet another new officer transferring from the Quantum Fury, although this time the encounter is rather accidental. As luck has it, Colonel Susan Ivoniva arrives via transporter just as the CO gets ready to leave for the planet.

They warn the other shuttles to avoid the area that they just previously encountered to save them the heartache of flying through it.
- When they finally break free of the nebula's clouds they find that the source of the distress signal was a Minshara-class planet.
- Back on the USS-Charon we find Rhiana t'Khellian on the bridge manning the Operations station, as well as keeping an eye on her own Communications station. While doing so however she receives a signal which is bounced off the shuttles, the signal was from Captain Rehu and it was telling them to change course and head towards the distress signal at the other side of the nebula.
- Off duty we go too a couple of Lieutenants on a lunch date, one of whom Ambassador Lamont is ever so kind to help pick out a lunch from the Italian menu, as he was a little stuck as to what to order. A lunch date where desert is taken in at a much more 'private' location.
- Ambassador Lamont is down in the lounge enjoying the visual stimulation the nebula provides when he found himself unable to focus on the nebula and his thoughts were interupted by a conversation and the odd voice pattern of the two of them, hearing bits and pieces of the conversation. Finally he brings himself to look at the two speaking, and sees that they are two pilots, one of which looks slightly familiar to our dear Ambassador. When he goes to have words with the unfamiliar pilot, he is gone, leaving him with the uncomfortable gut feeling he had.
- Cadet Aayla Bre'accoria is in one of the restaurants enjoying some food and memories before heading back to her quarters and receiving news from her old mentor that her people were at war with the Kree and Gorn Specialists.
- Back at the Shuttle Bellatora Fortis we find our Captain Rehu, Lieutenant Tyrax and Ensign Cyrin arriving to the planet, not too long after they do however, the USS Charon also arrives to the planet, a little too quickly for the Commanders liking, as Eithne warns the Caitian not to fly so fast. She then gives the Caitian the order to take the Charon into orbit of the planet and to do it much slower impulse then the speed she took the Charon at the travel to the planet.
- The Shuttle now landed on the planet surface out dear Captain and the rest of her team venture out of the safety of the cabin, leaving only the scientist behind to survey the planet and its characteristics. At first, they find nothing out of the ordinary, but when they reprogram their tricorders to scan for Vulcanoid life forms, they find much out of the ordinary. They find that there are many dead bodies around them bringing the Captain to issue an order to Commander Katris to search the planet surface for any survivors.
- The signal having originated from a Mountain range to the Northwest of where they currently are, but, they will wait for security and medical teams before venturing much further than where they are. After investigating a little bit the Captain returns to the Charon with memories of a plague, one that this planet suffered, or at least one similar to the same.
240911.14 Plot Notes
- Upon returning to the Charon, Captain Rehu issues orders for away teams to investigate the source of the distress signal and the situation at the still populated settlements, before she retreats into her Ready Room to do some research of her own. However, the signal from the planet has also attracted he attention of the malicious Terrh and his cohorts. Safe to say, he is not pleased by the presence of the „meddlesome‟ crew of Charon.
- Cmdr Dylan Marcus and Lt. Cmdr Ch'tan Foster release Kulg‟Rek, the last of their brig house guests. The Klingon assures the officers he will keep his people in line from now on, making the Security Chief wonder if dented bulkheads are preferable to dizzy Klingons.
- In the holodeck, Chief of Security Dylan Marcus conducts a drill with Cmdr Jade Falcon, Lt. Runo Dlya, Lt. Acel‟a and 1st Lt Brent Warren. The exercise is cut short when some of the officers are requested to join the away teams.
- First Lieutenant Brent Warren and his Marines gear up for their away mission on the planet.
- On ch`Dabhae, Ensign Dicari and Lt Sakarra manage to access the abandoned relay station and locate the source of the distress signal. They are soon joined by Commander Marcus and surgeon tr`Kethry, but before the away team can proceed, the eccentric doctor insists on procuring an unusual sample for his research and has to be shepherded back to the shuttle by a mildly irritated Vulcan. After another minor incident between the Betazoid Chief of Operations and the good surgeon, the shuttle finally lifts off and discovers the wreckage of an old bomber near a small village.
- Lt(jg) Indira Bai is working on research in sickbay and ponders whether she should return to Alpha shift.
- On ch‟Rihan, Galae‟EnRiov Argelian learns of the true status of Praetor AAnikh‟s health.
Back Logs
- Lt Nathaniel Doyle meets with Thomas Clipper in his office and surprises the young scientist with a promotion to Ensign, before the two debate the business of the upcoming nebula survey.
- Following the old adage that „whatever can go wrong, will”, Charon‟s beloved ambassador Lamont and Lt Sakarra find themselves stuck in a malfunctioning turbolift. When said lift plunges towards a new career as scrap metal, the Vulcan ends up dragging Lamont to safety after which the ambassador of dry comments gets to be the second person to carry a mildly disgruntled Sakarra to sickbay.
- In the stellar cartography lab, Nathaniel Doyle informs AAayla Bre'Accoria that he‟d like her to head the sub-department and receives his first status report from the slightly overwhelmed Cadet.
- Commander Marcus and Lieutenant Johnson share some well deserved time off to celebrate the anniversary of their first date.
- Late during ship‟s night, Marine Brent Warren‟s workout is first interrupted by a Vulcan and then by a malfunction of the holodeck, trapping him and Lt Sakarra in the dark. Following the tradition of “If it‟s already broke, let‟s wreck it”, the two stuck officers manage to free themselves by blowing up a panel.
- Surgeon tr`Kethry finishes patching up his Vulcan patient, his methods eliciting horror from the attending nurse and general bewilderment from Lt. Sakarra.
- The USS Corsair, battered but still holding together, launches her final assault on NeoDyne‟s base. With defenses on the station down, Taverian Ramius and a band of marines board the station. On the lab deck, the Starfleet personnel finds what can safely be described as a „House of Horrors” and a dying scientist urges Ramius to destroy the station. The Captain however is determined to collect evidence of NeoDyne‟s deeds and presses on.
- Several years ago, a tragedy unfolds on ch‟Rihan as Lharan t`Kethry succumbs to the madness which seems to run in her family, leaving a young Aehlen traumatized and orphaned.
240911.21 Plot Notes
- Cmdr. Eithne Katris, Ensign Nathanial Doyle, Lieutenant Dlya, Lieutenant Bai and 1st Lt Brent Warren along with assorted marines meet in transporter room two where the XO briefs them on the situation. The officers discuss the away mission and don hazmat suits just in case, before beaming down to ch`Dabhae.
- Just a short time later, things in orbit of the planet go donut-shaped indeed as the IRW Knvuk under command of the infamous Terrh shows up and brings company - four more warbirds that quickly surround Charon and demand the Federation ship’s surrender. Before Captain t`Rehu can unleash either curses or worse, a snide comment, both her comm officer t`Khellian and Tactical officer Foster appraise her of established weapons locks. Much to the annoyance of the Caitian helmsman, Chief Engineer Calhoun who had been looking forward to some quite time and our dear ambassador Lamont who spills his tea (how DARE they!), the warbirds open fire without so much as a ‘by your leave’.
- Hopelessly outgunned, the Charon hangs in the fight by sheer determination while Calhoun, Xavier and the other engineers scramble to keep her in one piece. Unable to retrieve the away teams, the crew watches helplessly as the Knvuk launches an unidentified object into ch`Dabhae’s atmosphere.
- With her ship in rags and tatters and Lamont being tossed rather unceremoniously onto the bridge by another broken turbolift, Rehu grudgingly gives the order to retreat into the nebula. As if leaving her people behind isn’t heartbreaking enough for the CO, Science officer Clipper informs her that the object launched towards the planet is in fact a biological agent which will kill all life on ch`Dabhae in short order.
- Pursued by four warbirds, Charon uses her enhanced sensors to hide in the nebula while a most disgruntled Chief Engineer does his best to keep the ship from coming apart at the seams. To his complete astonishment, Lamont finds himself not only at the receiving end of Rehu’s dry comments, but in fact in the XO’s chair after offering his help during the absence of so many senior officers. Deep within Yy’a, Captain Rehu formulates a plan to even the odds against their pursuers, using the modified Starfleet Shuttles to deliver some torpedoes of their own.
- Meanwhile, the away team on board the Bellatora Fortis reaches a secluded village and meets some of the inhabitants. While Commander Marcus, Lt Sakarra and Ensign Dicari attempt to find out from a mightily suspicious village leader what prompted the distress signal and how they might help, the good surgeon tr`Kethry goes off on another of his escapades to secure a sample for his research.
- Just as the Vulcan and the Betazoid manage to come to an agreement regarding the supplying of food and medical supplies to the village and an exasperated Security Chief chases the wayward doctor across the fields, the away team loses contact with Charon after a brief, garbled message. With Ensign Dicari’s help, the Vulcan determines that Charon warned them of an attack by warbirds and they inform the villagers to evacuate. With Cmdr Marcus, a Romulan child that had an unfortunate encounter involving doctor tr`Kethry and a rock, and said grumpy surgeon back on board, the Fortis lifts off to search for the other away team. The first thing they find however is a D’Deridex warbird - the source of what their sensors now recognize as a mutagenic virus released into ch`Dabhae’s atmosphere and a most inconvenient weapon’s lock on them.
240911.28 Plot Notes
- Aayla was monitoring some usual tachyon emissions from the orbit of planet when a warning sign came onto the view screen indicating that there are enemy ships detected. Suddenly an explosion surprises her, knocking her back and breaking her leg. Though she survives, there is a toxic fume detected which brings the computer to shut off the area, locking her in.
- MCapt. Nikolai Chrenienko is in an unknown lab having nanites tested on him.
- The away team is down on the planet surface and encounter many dieing Romulan people. The carnage is enough to effect many of them as they try to complete their mission. Only to be ambushed in the process.
- They then find out that it is actually six romulans that beamed down and were currently attacking them. But, they avoid being overtaken by beaming to the Bellatora Fortis.
- Having located the other away team, Sakarra, Cyrin, and Dylan try to survive a face to face encounter with a warbird, more doom awaited them when they became trapped in the warbirds tractor beam. Fortunately, with the Marines aboard they break free and there is no sign of pursuit.
- With no one following they take hide in the Nebula and begin to repair the shuttle in hope that she will be able to bring her safely back to the Charon. Though on their way they encounter some falcons who seem to looking for our poor stranded shuttle.
- However, due to the skilled piloting of Sakarra and the efficient scan works of Cyrin, they are able to evade the falcons long enough so that the Charon is able to come to the rescue.
- On the Charon, Captain Rehu speaks with Ambassador Lamont about a strategy to keep the safety of the Civilians, mainly the children. Telling him that in the event that it is needed that all children aboard must be ushered onto an awaiting shuttle along with two caretakers. Ian assures the captain that he will see that it is arranged personally leaving Rehu in her ready room to think.
- Though to her dismay her thought is interrupted by a call from the Bridge, telling her of the trapped cadet down on deck eight. With no available personnel she is forced to deal with the matter personally.
- Commander Calhoun is on deck eight working to contain the plasma fires and damage done to the ship.
- Lieutenant Brent Warren, along with the shuttle, have landed in the shuttle bay, though there are some serious injuries, the Marine keeps his composure and sees that all with well with the pilots and Marines.
- Nathanial Doyle comes to on the shuttle, only to be knocked back down when she is landed back on the Charon, though he is unhurt and able, he helps the rest of the away team get off the shuttle.
- He then reports to Ensign Clipper on the bridge who gives him his next orders.
- The Captain finally is able to reach Cadet Bre'accoria who is over joyed to hear the Captains voice.
240912.05 Plot Notes
- With the comm system still operating by the Uncertainty Principle, Lt Nathaniel Doyle sets out to find the Captain and explain his plan for detecting the Romulan ships. He finds Rehu on the badly battered deck Eight, where several of the crew are still frantically working to free the trapped Stellar Cartographer. The Captain approves the scientist’s unorthodox plan and he returns to confer with Ensign Clipper, who in the meantime has come up with yet another intriguing idea.
- Once the preparations for the probes are well under way, Clipper and Doyle notice increased fatigue in their intrepid scientist troops. They decide on a bit of a friendly competition, which works out to everyone’s favor as the probes are finished way ahead of schedule.
- The passengers of the mangled and wrecked shuttle Bellatora Fortis are evacuated, and a cranky Rihannsu surgeon finds that the Vulcan pilot has ruined his fine work by incurring yet more injuries. He carries the profusely bleeding Sakarra to sickbay where he stubbornly refuses to let the annoying woman die, employing his usual unorthodox methods. After all is said and done, he leaves a profusely irritated but very much alive Vulcan in the middle of a bloody mess.
- After watching the good surgeon leave with a Vulcan in obviously bad shape, a distraught Ambassador Lamont seeks out the pilot Athalla to inform him of his orders should things go even more terribly wrong. Athalla agrees to the assignment of taking Charon’s children to safety, however he insists on being able to proceed under his own terms and the Ambassador finds them acceptable.
- On the planet Vulcan, future events are foreshadowed by a conversation between a V’Shar agent and one of his closest friends. As matters stand, there are things concerning Charon that have this far remained obscure.
- Shiarrael Rehu’s efforts to free the trapped Cadet Bre'accoria are joined by Chief Engineer Calhoun himself, and although the deck is rapidly losing life support, they manage to cut a large enough gap through the debris to free the Stellar Cartographer and a little child who had wandered into the lab before the attack.
- Lt Cmdr Ch’Tan Foster is personally overseeing repairs to the torpedo launching systems and the Shield Generators. Say what you will, a barking and shouting half-Klingon is an excellent motivator for a crew that’s already toppling over from exhaustion.
- Ensign M’Riarr employs some unusual methods as well as some friends to keep the Charon’s engines from failing completely. While the Andorian engineer Shenn and his Italian colleagues struggle with the faltering impulse generators, an enchanted Nils Olafsson struggles with a headstrong lady who presses him into repair services.
- The genuinely annoyed Lt Sakarra enlists the help of a sympathetic marine to effect an impromptu escape from sickbay. Brevet First Lieutenant Brent Warren, obviously not above some small mischief and gentleman enough to help a ‘banged up’ pilot, whisks the Lieutenant away to her quarters. While the grateful Vulcan is finally able to induce a healing trance, the marine remains to watch over her. Although the ‘waking up’ part does not go without some troubles, the good marine can now honestly say he is one of the few people who actually hit a Vulcan and are no worse for wear afterwards.
- Commander Kathris has to deal with an ironic situation of her own when Doctor Lylan Fisher informs her it had become necessary to remove the implant that suppressed her telepathic abilities. With the ship in such a grave situation, Eithne decides to postpone the issue and focus on her duties.
Back Logs
- Chief of Science Nathaniel Doyle and Cadet Aayla Bre'accoria observe some rather odd seismic disturbances while surveying planets from the Astrometrics lab. Once they discover it is actually a Vree carrier wave that is causing the abnormal readings, Doyle approves a mission to investigate and possibly counteract the source of the signal.
- On ch`Rihan a young Shiarrael Rehu trains with her cousin Itsak, using some not so polite moves (both verbally and physically). After intervention by the wise old grandfather, the children come upon a disagreement between Jamor tr`Sahen and Shiarrael’s mother concerning the young half-Vulcan boy and his desire to join the Galae. In the end, Verol tr`Rehu settles the matter by making it clear he intends to sponsor Itsak.
- Starfleet academy is treated to a family fight par excellence, when a mischievous Cadet Dicari tweaks the sonic showers to emit a pleasing shade of Andorian Blue and his cousin Yaxara Hagen happens to be one of the first victims.
- At the NeoDyne facility, Taverian Ramius’ audacious plan seems to work out well when he and his masquerading marines overpower the mercenary forces and secure the core of the underground lab. Much to the Captain’s dismay, he finds the crafty Ballintine has managed to lure them into a trap after all. While the discredited and morally questionable scientist cannot help but brag about his genius and success, Ramius seeks for a way to turn the situation to his advantage. When at least one of Ballintine’s boasts appears to have merit and a humanoid with the same terrible genetic modifications that have plagued Ramius all his life emerges, the good Captain and his marines find themselves in a rough spot of epic proportions.
240912.12 Plot Notes
- Commander Eithne Katris goes to check on how the members of the away teams are faring, staring with the marines. She finds Brevet 1st Lt Warren in the barracks, checking his equipment, and he recaps the events on the planet for the XO, assuring her that his marines have walked away mostly unscathed.
- The IRW Jahae pursues Charon into Yy'a, despite the crew's misgivings. The good Riov's fears appear well founded when they come across the pathetic leftovers of the IRW Y'Hae, fallen victim to one of the nebula's plasma eddies. Battered and shaken by the very same eddy as well as floating debris, the ship is crippled and adrift. Before repairs can be started, the Riov is stunned to find they stumbled across Charon when the light of impulse engines appears on her screen. Without disruptor banks, the only viable method to capture the blasted Federation ship is with a boarding party of Gai'Shian.
Oh yes, it's on now…
- On the bridge, Ambassador Lamont minds the store, ruminating over not only their current predicament but the burdens of command.
- Having detected the same distress signal that led Charon towards ch`Dabhae, the Quantum Fury's crew postpones their return home to investigate. If Khiy Kanryth is less than enthusiastic about the unplanned detour, he is positively unhappy about finding an old D.Deridex war bird in orbit of a planet at the source of the now silent distress call.
Worse still, weapons signatures and debris lead to the conclusion that another Federation ship has already been in the area. Traveling under cloak, the crew determines that it was indeed Charon who has been attacked and chased into the looming nebula, while the last signs of life on the planet are being eradicated by a mutagenic virus. Appalled by the news and faced with the possibility that Charon may be beyond help, Kanryth nonetheless decides to stay and attempt to find them.
- Lieutenant Sakarra is interrupted rather rudely by two Gai'Shian in her quarters while getting ready to return to duty. Note to potential boarding parties trying to secure a Federation vessel: even fresh out of the shower and only in underwear, an already annoyed Vulcan does NOT take kindly to unannounced visitors with disruptor rifles.
- On the same note, marines aren't very happy about nasty surprises, either.
Brent Warren in particular should be avoided at all cost by intruders wishing to at least get a look at the ship they.re boarding before losing their heads. Literally.
- As the good Ambassador Lamont is faced with the bridge being the primary target of the invading Gai'Shian, Captain Rehu wastes little time as usual and emerges from the turbo lift in full, righteous fury. Unfortunately, even the swift attack can't handle all of the intruders, until 180 lbs of cranky Caitian throw themselves into the mix.
Having dispatched the first group of Gai'Shian, the already no longer ship-shape bridge crew is faced with more trouble emerging from the turbo lift, and although Rehu, Lamont, and a mightily singed M'Riarr put up a good fight, they end up having to retreat to the ready room with the injured Andorian Shrishnar in tow.
- Lieutenant Commander Ch'tan Foster seems to be the only one in the right spot when the alert klaxons go off, meaning close to a bunch of trigger happy Klingons with an abundance of bladed weapons at their disposal.
One can only hope the boys and gals don't forget to check uniforms before they start having too much fun.
- The tireless scientists Doyle and Clipper find a way to send scanning beams through the nebula's interference (really, how do those guys do it? Probes, beams, and running only on coffee and stale air? Never let it be said those guys aren't tough!), and are rewarded for their success with the information that a Romulan Warbird is, well, close enough to throw rocks at.
Despite some internal doubts, Nathaniel Doyle manages to rally his fellows and with a mix of ingenuity and sheer hardheaded bravery, the scientists set out to guard the probes and their sensor pod. Another note to Gai'Shian and other happy-go-lucky assault teams -do not, I repeat NOT come between a scientist and his toys. They might decide to get … creative.
- Cadet Aayla Bre'accoria returns to her quarters after having been freed from the stellar cartography lab and begins searching ancient manuscripts to make sense of what she suspects might be an ancient prophecy related to Yy'a. Much to her dismay, the books render nothing helpful, and her ruminations are cut short when Gai'Shian drop in, unannounced as usual. Really not nice. The good Cadet however is hardly phased and kicks .. Uh… behinds.
- Lost and stranded on Charon, one of ch`Dabhae's two sole survivors comes across two "Demon" Gai'Shian who have managed to corner one of the crew. The child's surprise attack gives said woman a chance to dispose of the soldiers, and the boy is astonished and relieved when he recognizes a familiar Vulcan. For better or worse, little Nveid decides to follow the strangely clothed woman and the two set out towards the bridge, loaded with weaponry.
- On the Quantum Fury, Commander Kanryth is ruminating over the dilemma of finding Charon in the depths of the nebula and the looming threat of the D'Deridex in orbit and the other Romulan Warbirds.
- Disappointed with the performance of the "Memento Mori" on the planet, the malicious Terrh is thrown into a fit of anger by the arrival of yet another unexpected visitor, the IRW Endless Sky.
Ordering the crew to stall, Terrh takes his leave and puts a poor young Arrain in the position of having to deal with an incensed Itsak tr`Sahen. However, before any answers are forthcoming, a mysterious bomber is launched and vanishes right before the D'Deridex self-destructs. Left with another mystery, the good Commander of the Endless Sky has to deal with one more surprise -the Quantum Fury decloaks right under their noses.
- Commander Dylan Marcus confers with the security AI Alice about the intruder alert, but unfortunately the avatar is damaged (again), so the good Security Chief has to rally his troops and seek out the Gai.Shian like everyone else -run about the ship until you trip over them. No, he's not a happy camper.
- Lieutenant Acel'a on the other hand makes the best of a bad situation by seeking out areas of trouble with uncanny instinct and dealing out some serious grief.
- Still a prisoner of NeoDyne, Nikolai Chernienko is presented with the replacement of the man he managed to kill in righteous fury -a young woman who gets to initiate the next series of tests on the torturer's favorite subject.
- Commander Jade Falcon, as fate wills it, is for once not up to any mischief but only wants a drink, when mischief finds him in the form of Romulan soldiers. Fun will now commence.
Back Logs
- Captain Rehu delivers the child rescued from deck eight to sickbay, and finds Lt Sakarra still in the middle of a rather awful bloody mess. To the CO.s surprise, the stubborn Vulcan is not only alive but awake, but her report on the events leading the shuttle back to Charon gives rise to a dark suspicion and much concern in Rehu's mind.
The Captain decides that she needs to know more about their still faceless enemies and begins to ponder plans how to capture one of their pursuers, ordering the badly battered Vulcan to see to her healing. Grudgingly, Lt Sakarra accepts the logic of the CO's statement that a dead Vulcan is of little use.
- Ten years ago in the Delta Quadrant, the USS Saratoga faces destruction by the Borg. A grizzled marine general hatches a desperate plan to disable the Cube, sending his marines on a possible suicide mission to deliver a devastating virus to the central node.
Nikolai Chernienko along with his beloved wife Arie are among the boarding party, and although the marines suffer heavy casualties and the „Russian Bear. has to be dragged back to the Saratoga unconscious, the mission succeeds.
- After the not so smooth shuttle landing, a battered and bleeding Cyrin Dicari finds himself in his least favorite place -sickbay -where a concerned Indira Bai tends to his fractures and lacerations.
- Immediately following the marine mutiny on Charon several months ago, Commander Dylan Marcus meets with the shackled Nikolai Chernienko for a private talk in his office. If nothing else, Marcus learns about the deeply rooted hatred the marine harbors for Romulans, and that the Russian is convinced to have acted in the Federation's best interest.
- Following the brawl in Charon's gym, Lieutenant Sakarra is visited by a sly old fox, aka the ship's Vulcan doctor, and agrees to a neuropressure treatment to make up for the post-surgery appointments she, well, had not been able to keep. Ship's business and all.
- Years ago at the Academy, Cyrin Dicari and Tamara Akasy continue their
philosophical debates.
